How do I control whether my Go 2 Camera connects to Mobile or WiFi?

When you set up your Go 2 Camera, it connects to the mobile network. Then you have the option to connect your camera to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network or skip the WiFi connection steps. After setup, your Arlo Go 2 Camera prioritizes connecting to a WiFi network. If a WiFi network isn’t available, then it connects to the mobile network.

Go 2 network setup

During setup (and afterward), you can connect your Arlo Go 2 Camera to either a mobile, WiFi network or both:

  • Mobile (LTE): To access the mobile network, your Go 2 Camera requires an activated SIM card with a mobile data plan. The SIM card must be installed in the Go 2 Camera.

  • WiFi: Your camera connects to an available WiFi network’s 2.4 GHz band.

When you set up your Go 2 Camera, the mobile network connection is handled first. Then you have the option to connect your camera to a 2.4 GH WiFi network or skip the WiFi connection steps. After setup, your Arlo Go 2 Camera prioritizes connecting to a WiFi network. If a WiFi network isn’t available, then it connects to the mobile network.

If you want your Go 2 Camera to always connect to the mobile network, select Cellular Network in the Arlo app. This setting prevents your Go 2 from constantly attempting to connect with WiFi. Trying to connect to WiFi in locations without WiFi or with a poor signal can affect battery life. It is recommended that WiFi be configured only if you expect the camera to be in constant range of this WiFi network, otherwise WiFi should be disabled.

Change your Go 2’s network mode

To change the network mode:

1. Open the Arlo app.

2. On the Devices page, tap the gear icon next to your Go 2 camera.

4. Tap Connected to.

5. Select the option you prefer:

  • WiFi Network. Toggle Network on and off.

  • Cellular Network. Toggle Cellular Data on and off.
