How do I change the battery in my Arlo Ultra, Arlo Ultra 2, Arlo Pro 3, Arlo Pro 4, or Arlo Pro 5S camera?
Last updated: 08.01.2025
Unlike previous Arlo cameras, the Arlo Ultra, Ultra 2, Pro 3, Pro 4, and Pro 5S cameras are made of two parts. The camera and battery are together in one part, and the camera housing acts as a protective shell in a second part. Replacing the batteries requires you to remove the camera from the camera housing. This modular design allows you to swap batteries with greater ease.
Arlo Ultra, Ultra 2, Pro 3, Pro 4, and Pro 5S cameras using an Arlo XL Rechargeable Battery & Housing follow the same procedure to open the housing and change the battery.
To change the battery in Arlo Ultra, Ultra 2, Pro 3, Pro 4, or Pro 5S camera:
- Press the button next to the charging port underneath the camera.
A clicking sound occurs, and the camera slides partially out of the camera housing.
- Pull the camera until it is entirely removed from the camera housing.
- Remove the battery by pulling on it until it slides out of the camera.
- Align the new battery and insert it into the battery compartment.
Note: The battery only inserts one way.
The camera LED blinks blue.
- Insert the camera back into the camera housing until it clicks into place.
Do this by pushing down on both the left and right sides of the camera.
Warning: When inserting the camera into the camera housing, do not push down on the lens or soft area below the lens.
Your camera is ready to resume normal activity.
