What is flicker adjustment on my Arlo device?

Last updated: 08.01.2025

If you see flickering or black bands in the video footage from your Arlo device, you can try changing the flicker adjustment settings in the Arlo Secure App.

The flicker effect occurs when a nearby light’s frequency is close to the same, but not the exact same frequency as your Arlo device. To eliminate this effect, change your device’s frequency to the same frequency of the light that is causing the flickering.

To change the flicker adjustment setting:

For the Arlo Secure App experience with Feed:

  1. Launch the Arlo Secure App.
  2. Tap Devices.
  3. Select your Arlo device.
  4. Tap
  5. Tap Video Settings.
  6. Tap Flicker Adjustment.
  7. Select a Flicker Adjustment setting:
  • Select Auto for the flicker adjustment setting to be determined by your location.
  • Select 60 Hz if the nearby light’s frequency is 60 Hz.

  • Select 50 Hz if the nearby light’s frequency is 50 Hz.
