Follow these instructions if your Arlo Camera or Arlo Video Doorbell is currently set up and connected to a VMB5000, VMB4540, VMB4500, or VMB4000 Arlo SmartHub or Base Station, and you want to connect the camera or doorbell directly to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

If your Arlo camera is not already set up, visit: How to set up Arlo Cameras

Before you begin:

  • You must have an Arlo Camera or Arlo Video Doorbell that can directly connect to a Wi-Fi router.
  • Your mobile device must be connected to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, and you must connect your Arlo device to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. For more information, visit: How do I connect my mobile device to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network to set up my Arlo camera?
  • To avoid losing your Arlo plan trial, make sure you add your Arlo device to the account that it was originally connected to.
  • When your Arlo device is not connected to an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station, you cannot store recordings to a local storage device.
  • Arlo Pro 5S and Arlo Pro 5 cameras can use the 5 GHz network, however, the camera needs to connect to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network first when re-adding it to your Arlo account. For more information, visit: How does the Arlo Pro 5S camera use 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks?
