How do I hardwire my Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free?

You can optionally hardwire your Arlo Essential Wire-Free Video Doorbell if you want it to continuously charge the battery or use an existing chime in your home. To hardwire your Arlo Video Doorbell, you must first remove it from your account, and then re-add it to the Arlo Secure App.

Before you hardwire your Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free:
- Ensure that your doorbell transformer voltage is between 8-24VAC, with a minimum rating of 10VA

- Make sure the power is off at the circuit breaker
- Ensure that you have all the items that came in the box with your Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free
- If you are uncomfortable hardwiring your Arlo Video Doorbell alone, contact a local electrician for help
- Check your current Arlo Video Doorbell configuration
- You will need to reconfigure your modes and rules after installation

To hardwire your Arlo Video Doorbell:
If you have the Arlo Secure experience with Feed:
- Launch the Arlo Secure App.
- Tap Devices.
- Select the Arlo Video Doorbell you want to hardwire.
- Tap
- Tap the Arlo Video Doorbell name at the top of the Device Settings screen.
- Tap Remove Device on the Device Info screen.
- After the Arlo Video Doorbell is removed, tap Devices.
- Tap
at the top of the screen.
- Select Doorbells & Chimes.
- Select Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free.
- Follow the in-app instructions to hardwire your Arlo Video Doorbell.
If you have the Arlo Secure experience with Library:
- Launch the Arlo Secure App.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap My Devices.
- Select the Arlo Video Doorbell you want to hardwire.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Remove Device.
- After the Arlo Video Doorbell is removed, tap Devices.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Add New Device.
- Select Doorbells & Chimes.
- Select Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free.
- Follow the in-app instructions to hardwire your Arlo Video Doorbell.
Install the Doorbell:
- Disconnect the existing doorbell from the mount and wires.
Note: To make sure that the wires don't go inside the wall, tape the wires to the wall while mounting the Arlo Video Doorbell. - Use the release pin to remove the mounting plate of the Arlo Video Doorbell.
Note: You may need to use the angled mounting plate for an optimal view depending on the location. - Position the mounting plate on the wall, keeping the wires and hole positioned at the bottom of the mounting plate as shown on your Arlo Secure App.
Note: You may need to drill new holes for the mounting plate. You will need a 6mm drill bit for the new holes. - Secure the mounting plate to the wall using the included screws.
- Connect the wires from the wall to your Arlo Video Doorbell. Wrap the wires behind the screws at the back of the doorbell and screw them tight.
Note: Either wire can go to either terminal. - Snap the Arlo Video Doorbell onto the mounting plate with an up-and-in motion.
- Turn the power back on.
