How do I mount my Arlo Essential wire-free camera?
You can mount your Arlo Essential wire-free camera on a wall or ceiling. Before you mount your camera, make sure you’ve found a good location for signal strength and motion detection. For more information, visit How should I position my Arlo Essential camera?.
Note: You must follow the instructions in the Arlo app when you first install your Essential wire-free camera. Do not begin mounting your camera before the Arlo app instructs you to during the installation process.
You need the following items to mount your Arlo Essential wire-free camera:
- A power drill with a 15/64 inch (6mm) drill bit
- A Phillips-head screwdriver
- The screw mount that came in the package with your camera
- A pencil (optional)
Note: We recommend using wall anchors when mounting on drywall, brick, or tile. For help mounting your camera with wall anchors, visit How do I use the wall anchors that came with my Arlo camera?.
To mount your Arlo Essential wire-free camera:
- Place the screw mount on the wall or ceiling where you plan to mount your camera.
- On the wall or ceiling, mark the location of the three holes from the mount.
Note: The marks can be used as a guide to drill pilot holes. - Remove the screw mount from the wall.
- Use a 15/64 inch (6mm) drill bit to drill three holes into the wall.
- Place the screw mount back onto the wall, and align it with the three holes in the wall.
- While holding the wall plate over the three holes, use a Phillips-head screw driver to fasten a screw into each hole.

- Screw your Essential wire-free camera clockwise into the screw mount.
- Tilt and swivel to adjust the angle of the camera.
- Twist the thumb screw and the grip clockwise to tighten the camera position.
