How do I connect my Arlo device to Apple Home?

You must be on the same Wi-Fi network as your Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station when you first connect Arlo to Apple Home. After your Arlo device is added to Apple Home, you must have an Apple Home Hub to access your Arlo devices on Apple Home when you are outside of your local network. You need the following to use Arlo with Apple Home:
- One of the following compatible devices:
- Arlo Ultra 2
- Arlo Ultra
- Arlo Pro 5S
- Arlo Pro 4
- Arlo Pro 3
- Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera
- Arlo Pro 2
- Arlo Pro
- Arlo Essential Camera
- Arlo Essential Spotlight Camera
- Arlo Essential XL Spotlight Camera
- Arlo Essential Indoor Camera
- Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wired (AVD1001)
- Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free (AVD2001)
- The Apple Home App
- The Arlo Secure App
- An Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station (VMB5000, VMB4540, VMB4500, or VMB4000)
Note: To use Apple Home, your Arlo device must be connected to an Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station. You can’t use Apple Home with your Arlo device if the device is connected directly to a Wi-Fi router.
You can connect your Arlo device to the Apple Home App in two ways:
- With an Apple Home setup code on the Arlo device.
- Without an Apple Home setup code.
Note: Ensure Home Data is enabled on your iOS mobile device.
Open the iOS Settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap Arlo Secure > Home Data.
To set up an Arlo device with a setup code:
- Set up your Arlo devices and Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station with the Arlo Secure App.
- Launch the Apple Home App.
- Tap + > Add Accessory.
- Scan the Apple Home setup code on your Arlo SmartHub, Arlo Base Station, Arlo device, or Quick Start Guide.
- Follow the setup flow to name devices and place them in Apple Home rooms.
To setup an Arlo device without a setup code:
- Launch the Arlo Secure App on your Apple device.
- Tap Devices.
- Select an Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station.
- Tap the name of your Arlo Smarthub or Arlo Base Station.
- Tap HomeKit.
- Select the Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station you want to add to Apple Home.
If you receive an Uncertified Accessory Error message, visit: When adding my Arlo Base Station to Apple Home, what should I do if I receive an Uncertified Accessory Error message? - Select a Home or tap Add New Home.
If you don’t have a Home set up in the Arlo Secure App, you are directed to create a Home. - Select a Room or tap Add a New Room.
If you don’t have a Room set up in the Arlo Secure App, you are directed to create a Room. - Tap Continue to add devices to HomeKit to add devices or additional Arlo Base Stations.
- Continue through the setup flows to confirm the name and room placement for each device.
Note: The name that you give each device is used for Siri commands. Choose a unique name that is easy to remember and pronounce. - Confirm the name of the device.
- Tap Skip, or rename any other devices as needed.
- Tap Finish.
Your devices are ready to use with Apple Home.
